Macmillan coffee morning - Sunday 29th Sept

Last Sunday's Macmillan coffee morning made over £260 - a fantastic achievement! There were games of hoy and a raffle, accompanied by lots of home made cake, sandwiches and sausage rolls. Thanks to everyone who helped and provided food on the day.

September 2019

This weekend (Sept 21/22), we had our competition finals. Results were as follows:

Men's championship: winner, Bob Taylor. Runner up, Les Samuels

Ladies' championship: winner, Trisha Ball. Runner up, Miriam Ibbotson

100 up: winner, Trisha Ball. Runner up, Alan Marden

Handicap: winner, Bob Taylor. Runner up, Barbara Marden

Yard of the jack: winner, Trisha Ball. Runner up, Brian Hodgson

The weekend culminated in our memorial event which started off with a spider, followed by a pairs competition which was won by Pete Armstrong and John Mann. We were lucky with the weather - despite a promised downpour in the weather forecast, there was only a light shower. After the bowling was over, we enjoyed a huge buffet prepared by Carol Holmes.

To change the subject, the date of our next quiz has been moved back to November 1st. The quiz will have a Halloween theme - spooky dress is optional! See poster below for details.

August 2019

Our next quiz will be on Friday 13th September; the QM will be Sue Samuels. At the last quiz we introduced a small change - instead of doing a raffle we had a couple of games of hoy instead, which people found very enjoyable. (If you haven't come across hoy before, it's a type of bingo that uses playing cards.)

We will be having a Macmillan coffee morning at the clubhouse on Sunday 29th September, from 11 am onwards. (This date has been rearranged from Sept 27th.) Please let Les know if you would like to provide any cake!

July 2019

Our fun day on June 29th was indeed a lot of fun. It was too hot to do anything too strenuous but we did do some bowling, and also ate the magnificent buffet prepared by Sue Samuels. Check out the gallery below for pictures taken by Alan Marden on the day.

June 2019

Just a reminder about our fun day, which will be held on Saturday 29th June from 11 am to 4 pm. This will be similar in format to the open day we had at the start of the season, with fun bowling activities and refreshments. Drinks will also be available from the bar. If you're new to bowling and would like to give it a try, then why not come along? Wear comfortable clothing and flat, closed shoes.

Our next quiz is on Friday 5th July - see poster below for more details.

We have added two more friendly fixtures, suggested by Dane Park - these will take place on two Wednesdays in August. Download an updated fixture list for more details.

Visit our match results page to see results for the friendlies and men's and ladies' league games.

April 2019

Big thank you to everyone who helped with our open day on 27th April - there was a good turnout despite the weather being cold and windy.

Every Sunday during the season, Les will be doing a coaching session from 10.30 till 11.30 am. Juniors from seven years and up are also welcome, provided they're accompanied by an adult guardian.

The bar will be open from 11 am on the Sundays when we're not playing a friendly, with bingo from 11.30 onwards. The first bar opening will therefore be Sunday 12th May.

Our next quiz is on Friday 24th May.

We will be having five in-house competitions this year, with a £1 entry fee for each. To download an entry form, visit our "Info for Members" page. The draw for the competitions will take place in the clubhouse on Friday 10th May - 7.30 pm start.

March 2019

Our 2019 fixture list is now available to download - click on the "Info for Members" tab. Please note that as the season progresses, there may be changes to the fixture list. 29th September 2018

Our Macmillan coffee morning today earned £113.32. It was a very enjoyable morning in aid of a good cause, and the weather was beautiful so we were even able to have a final roll-up before the official end of the season. Thanks to Les for organising the coffee morning and to everyone who baked the magnificent cakes.
